Joe’s Seafood Prime steak and Stone Crab
I am not sure why I haven’t done a review of Joe’s before. I have gone enough times. I guess I felt like the reputation of the establishment was enough. But I have some time on my hands (not really but ok) so here goes.
First off its just steps from the White House in an old remodeled bank. It reminds you of something out of an old Gangster Flick. Opulent but tasteful!
Lunch time specials are amazing. Half off glasses of wine (the sauvignon blanc) is my go to.
The dish that made me a loyal fan is the Chilean sea bass. I am a lazy eater. I don’t eat a lot of subs or sandwiches or pick crabs because it’s just too much work. So when my favorite waiter describes the fact that the Chilean sea bass is so succulent it doesn’t need to even be chewed, I laughed but that garnered my attention. I challenged him. “So I can just put it in my mouth and swallow? Is that wheat you are saying?” He confirmed so I ordered it. He was not exaggerating in the least. You can literally swallow it without chewing. By far the best Chilean sea bass I have had. My next favorite dish is the brussel sprouts. They top them with fried lemon. I had never had fried lemon before but now I am hooked (I tried unsuccessfully to recreate this at home). I could literally go down the list to every item on the menu that I have tried because I have yet to taste one that was anything less than delicious. But I implore you to go for yourself. The 4 cheese macaroni and cheese, spinach stuffed mushrooms, and calamari all get a special mention. Catch Joe’s in Chicago and Vegas.
